Macquarie, partnering with MGT, has successfully commercialised, structured and financed the Tees Renewable Energy Plant project through development to financial close.
MGT Teesside Ltd is building a 299 MW CHP biomass plant at Teesport. Costing £650m to build, it will be the largest dedicated biomass power plant in the world, and is the largest thermal-combustion power plant under construction in the UK today
Building a project the size of TeesREP is a lengthy and complicated process. Construction of the TeesREP began in August 2016 and commissioning is due to begin in 2019 with full commercial operation due to start early 2020.
Gauged Solutions were delighted to have been selected to support the construction phase, with safety and risk management training been delivered to senior site management personnel, and the main boards of directors withinn both organisations.
In our view, this demonstrates a clear comittment from both businesses, that even at this early stage in the construction phase of the project, they want to set clear and high expectations that effective risk management is of paramount importance to them.
